چکیده
The adverse environmental impact of fossil fuel combustion in engines has motivated research towards using alternative low-carbon fuels. In recent years, there been an increased interest studying the mixtures consisting mainly hydrogen and carbon monoxide, referred to as syngas, which can be considered a promising toward cleaner technologies for power generation. This paper provides extensive review syngas production application internal (IC) primary or secondary fuel. First, brief overview is presented, introducing various methods its production, focusing on historical use summarizing merits drawbacks Then physicochemical properties relevant IC are reviewed, highlighting studies fundamental characteristics, such ignition delay time laminar turbulent flame speeds. main body devoted reviewing effect utilization performance emissions characteristics spark (SI), compression (CI), homogeneous charge (HCCI), advanced dual-fuel reactivity-controlled (RCCI) engines. Finally, on-board reforming techniques vehicles reviewed potential route further increases efficiency decreases These then related reported behavior blends It was found that selection method, choice base reforming, properties, strategy, engine system operating conditions play critical roles dictating advantages discussion present valuable insights future possible transport.

Ethanol Internal Combustion Engines HIGHLIGHTS PROCESS AND TECHNOLOGY STATUS – The use of biofuels (e.g. bio-ethanol and biodiesel) in the transport sector can save significant amounts of fossil fuels and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Internal combustion engines (ICEs) can run on bio-ethanol manufactured from biomass or waste through biochemical processes. Agricultural feedstock such as sugar...
متن کاملTransient combustion control of internal combustion engines
This thesis addresses the problem of combustion control for automotive engines. A method is proposed to complement existing controllers, which use lookup tables based on steady-state operation. During transients, the new control method adjusts fast control variables (ignition or injection time) to compensate for deviations in the cylinder initial conditions from their optimal values due to the ...

Transportation is second only to industrial use as the largest consumer of energy in the US and accounts for about 60% of our nation’s use of petroleum—an amount equivalent to all of the oil the country imports. The numbers are staggering: Some 10 000 gallons of petroleum are burned in the US each second of every day. Although new energy sources are being developed and renewable fuels are emerg...
